About the Cast

Melik Malkasian (Arturo)

    An unquestionable slave to his craft, Melik gained and then lost 40 pounds to fully inhabit the character of Arturo Domingo. This is his most ambitious work to date with Westby, but their partnership began in 1993 when Melik played a lead role in Westby’s first feature, SUBCULTURE.  Since then, Melik and James have worked on 4 features and numerous shorts together, including 2006 surprise hit FILM GEEK.  Melik's TV credits include roles on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, JUDGING AMY, STAR TREK: VOYAGER as well as several Movies of the Week wherein scorned women did something horrible.




John Breen (Franke E Normo)

Director. Writer. Actor. John Breen is a man of many hats. His film writing and directing credits include the short films THE GUN MAN and TIME BIKE. His live performance credits include LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O’BRIEN, UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE THEATRE, and the nationally acclaimed sketch comedy duo HOSKINS AND BREEN.  His recent film credits include Westby’s FILM GEEK, UNTRACEABLE with Diane Lane and WENDY directed by Kelly Reichardt. John also co-wrote and starred in the short film TOOTH AND NAIL, an official selection at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.


Katherine Flynn (Fiona)

KATHERINE FLYNN began her acting career studying at Columbia University in New York.  Already proving to be a force in the indie film scene, Katie wore dual hats in 2006 as Line Producer and actress in THE BEACH PARTY AT THE THRESHOLD OF HELL which was an official selection at the LA Film Festival. Named Miss Golden Globe in 2001, Katherine's other credits include the feature BLIND DATING with Ethan Embry, NUMB3RS for CBS, and THE WEDDING BELLS for FOX.


Cara Seymour (Doris)

CARA SEYMOUR began her career in England with a theater company called TROUBLE and STRIFE, which she co-founded with friends as an undergraduate at Cambridge University. During their five years together they co-wrote, acted in and produced three original plays. They toured extensively, winning a Time Out Award for their play NOW AND AT THE HOUR OF OUR DEATH. On arrival in America, she teamed up with writer Jennifer Houlton to write and produce STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN, a play set in a funeral home. She went on to act in a string of successful Off Broadway productions, appearing in an Obie winning production of Mike Leigh's ECSTASY and GOOSE PIMPLES and Caryl Churchill's THE SKRYKER at The Public Theater. She has appeared in many movies among them YOU’VE GOT MAIL, GOOD BABY, AMERICAN PSYCHO, DANCER IN THE DARK, GANGS OF NEW YORK, ADAPTATION, BIRTH, EVERGREEN, STEAL ME, HOTEL RWANDA , THE NOTORIOUS BETTIE PAGE, THE SAVAGES and COMING SOON.
